Monitoring of people’s digital lives allows for better services and resource allocation. We believe the humanitarian sector can take lessons from tech giants such as Google and Facebook. In the past decade these companies have shifted from delivering products to interconnected systems, where novel personalized services are enabled through the collection of unprecedented amounts of user data. These corporations created massive opportunities for improved operations and user experience. But many would argue they have gone too far.
