Proper waste management is lacking in most developing and emerging countries, leading to the familiar pictures of waste mountains and plastic ocean pollution. The business case is difficult: an average bag of waste does not have enough value to be transported from A to B and be responsibly recycled or disposed. Household or government contribution is required, but with developing, bureaucratic and often corrupt public systems, this will take time. Hence, the investment business case is difficult. Dutch start-up SweepSmart has worked for the past 4 years on this system transition in India and Indonesia and wants to share their experiences and brainstorm with you on potential solutions to close this economic gap. Join this session to learn and contribute to one of our biggest current environmental challenges.
